Practical Aeronautics was proud to sponsor a table for the 16th Annual Eastern Carolina Aviation Heritage Foundation (ECAHF) Gala at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center in Havelock, North Carolina, on Friday, February 21st. The Gala raises funds for STEM programs, including summer camps in Havelock, that reach many children across eastern North Carolina.

PAI was represented by John Wissler, PAI Vice President for Business Development, and Scotty Nowlin, Associate Instructor. Maj Gen Tom Braaten, USMC (Ret), hosted the event and the Keynote Speaker was Guy Nelson, President and CEO of Attollo, LLC. A former USMC officer, Guy gave an engaging talk on the general history of drones and how he evolved from Harrier pilot to drone pilot and how drones are used today and offered a vision for broader applications in the future. He also addressed the need for increased STEM-related capabilities for eastern North Carolina’s growing aerospace ecosystem. He was joined in his remarks by an unassuming but impressive AAI RQ-2 Pioneer UAV that hangs from the ceiling on permanent display as part of the exceptional aviation exhibits at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center. If you are visiting eastern North Carolina, the Havelock Tourist and Event Center should be on your list of stops!
