On October 11th, John taught fundamental aerodynamic concepts to 33 Falcon AeroLab 6th and 7th graders. Students learned new vocabulary, some aviation history, properties of air, and the forces that act on both powered aircraft as well as aircraft that have no thrust (like the balsa wood gliders they built). After classroom time, the kids broke into groups and performed test flights to find the glide performance of their gliders. They presented their results and discussed ways they could improve the efficiency of their tests. These future aerospace leaders experience many hands-on opportunities throughout their time at Falcon AeroLab, from flights in real gliders, powered aircraft, and flight certification programs, to time in vertical wind tunnels and USAFA Insider tours, PAI is honored to be a part of their unique learning experience!
